Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes happy with Premier League debut – but outraged at one thing

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes was left delighted with his debut for the club, according to reports. The Portugal international played the full 90 minutes as the Red Devils drew 0-0 with Wolves in their Premier League showdown on Saturday night.

Manchester United spent the January transfer window chasing Fernandes and, with days to go, finally landed the playmaker from Sporting Lisbon.

He was thrown right in at the deep end shortly afterwards, playing the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw with Wolves at Old Trafford.

Fernandes looked neat, pulling the strings in the middle of the park but was ultimately unable to propel United to victory.

Despite the draw, however, Portuguese newspaper Record say that the 25-year-old was delighted with his game for the club.

However, he was reportedly outraged at his failure to score, despite having sevaral opportunities.

Fernandes was also supposedly surprised by the rhythm and intensity of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been urged to play Fernandes in his natural No 10 position after the game against Wolves.

The midfielder had to drop deep to help Fred and Andreas Pereira when it came to defensive duties at Old Trafford.

And former Chelsea and Aston Villa hitman Tony Cascarino thinks he should be deployed further forward instead.

“I’ve seen Fernandes play a lot higher up the pitch, more effective there,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT on Sunday.

“Gets chances, has got a decent goal record, so you want to try and get him in positions of danger.

“Far too often in the game I found him picking up the ball in front of the back four of United.

“Fred’s playing really well at this moment in time and he’s going that job for United really well.

“So yeah you’ve got to get him further forward because he can shoot from distance and he had a couple of pops [Saturday] that didn’t actually come off but he had a go, he had a go at trying to get into positions.

“But he gave away the ball quite a number of times in the second half, just little neat passes around the 18-yard box, but never showed what United have paid in that investment.

“But it’s his first game, you can’t look far beyond that. [Wolves] were brilliant.”
