Man Utd scouting 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga but face competition from Barcelona for £26m star

MANCHESTER UNITED are in the mix for the latest star to emerge out of French football – Eduardo Camavinga.

The Angola-born midfielder is already a first-team regular at Ligue 1 side Rennes having turned 17 on the weekend.

L’Equipe name United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as the sides keeping an eye on Camavinga.

However Rennes could ask for upwards of £26million having played him in every league match so far this season.

Camavinga and his entourage are also said to be perfectly happy learning his trade with the club who made him their youngest-ever debutant back in December.

Having moved to France aged two, the teenager has recently acquired French citizenship but is yet to declare for Les Bleus, Angola or DR Congo, who he is also eligible for.

Real Madrid, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were all linked with summer bids for Camavinga.

That was off the back of seven outings in Ligue 1 last season as Rennes won the Coupe de France.

When his side beat Paris Saint-Germain in August, he became the youngest player to make an assist in league history.

And while his debut was a Rennes record, he also claimed the prestigious title of the first player born after January 1, 2002 to start a game in Europe’s top five leagues when facing Monaco in May.

Therefore it is no surprise that Les Rouge et Noir have Camavinga tied down to 2022.
