Man Utd respond to Mino Raiola after agent offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic transfer return

Manchester United have decided they will not re-sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his LA Galaxy exit, according to transfer expert Ian McGarry.

Ibrahimovic announced earlier this week he would be leaving Galaxy following the expiry of his contract.

He joined the MLS side in March 2018 after mutually agreeing to cancel his United contract.

In August, the Swede announced he would be open to a potential return to Old Trafford.

McGarry says Ibrahimovic’s agent, Mino Raiola, offered United the chance to sign the striker again but the Red Devils said no.

“They have turned down the opportunity to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, that was offered to them by Mino Raiola,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

“So clearly they didn’t want to go backwards.”

United are linked with a host of strikers ahead of the January transfer window.

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic and Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Braut Haaland are all understood to be targets.

McGarry says United may look to strike a deal with all three before deciding who they want to sign.

He added: “United are juggling a lot of balls with regards to strikers. Werner, Haaland, Mandzukic.

“I think [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer’s problem in terms of the goals that Manchester United are not scoring, I think it’s 16 [goals] for in the Premier League and 12 against.

“So you can see that has been a problem for them, especially with the way they are struggling to climb the table.

“So it’s going to be very, very busy for Manchester United in terms of trying to negotiate deals for each of these players because what happens in these situations is you try to put a deal in place for everyone and then you choose the striker you want, or the one who’s the best value or the best bet.

“So yes, expect to see a lot of movement in terms of Manchester United and strikers over the next six to eight weeks.”
