Man Utd news LIVE: Two January deals for Solskjaer, Allegri latest, Mandzukic alternative

11:10 UPDATE: Fred mocked by Man Utd stars

Manchester United star Fred reportedly became the butt of jokes among team-mates after being left red-faced this summer.

The Brazil international was dropped from Tite’s Copa America plans – a decision which meant his already-booked wedding was not during time off.

Fred therefore had to request some more holiday from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – which amused his team-mates.

The Times claim United players joked about the incident, while staff were surprised Solskjaer agreed to give him some more time off.

11:00 UPDATE: Man Utd choose Mandzukic alternative

Manchester United’s interest in Moussa Dembele has ramped up with Mario Mandzukic no longer looking set for Old Trafford.

Express Sport reported last weekend that United had a verbal agreement in place with the out-of-favour Juventus striker.

However, Mandzukic now appears to be on for a prolonged stay in Italy, with AC Milan preparing to welcome him to the San Siro.

All is not lost for United, however, with Lyon’s Dembele being identified by chiefs as an alternative transfer target for January.

10:40 UPDATE: Allegri to Everton

Everton could pose a threat to Manchester United’s chances of landing Massimiliano Allegri if Ed Woodward axes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Transfer insider Ian McGarry says the former AC Milan and Juventus gaffer’s people have been sounded out about him possibly taking charge of the Toffees.

“A well known agent has contacted Massilimiliano Allegri representatives in the last seven days to find out whether or not he would be interested in taking over from Marco Silva if he was to be sacked,” McGarry said on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast.

“This is a normal process and what we cannot confirm is if this was instructed by Everton, these things often happen in this way.”

10:20 UPDATE: Man Utd back Solskjaer

Manchester United are gearing up to splash the cash for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January in a bid to upgrade the Norwegian’s squad.

Express Sport understands Ed Woodward and co. are ready to provide the funds for a new striker and midfielder when the transfer window opens.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez’s departures during the summer left United light in the attacking department.

They are also short of a midfielder or two having waved goodbye to Marouane Fellaini in January and then Ander Herrera when his contract expired in June.
