Man Utd warned off Declan Rice

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is not worth the £80million valuation the Hammers would reportedly want for him, claims Paul Ince.

“You get people saying things just for the sake of saying them,” ex-United star Ince told talkSPORT.

“I don’t think you’re going to spend £80m on Declan Rice, that’s for sure, not at this moment in time.

“You’ve got to remember he was a centre-half and as a midfield player, I’ve watched him quite a lot last year and this year, and he’s still got a long way to go.

“I think he’s at the right club with West Ham, he’s playing week in, week out which is important and I think he’s got the right people around him.”

Thomas Muller to Man Utd?

Manchester United have been told by Thomas Muller’s camp that the Bayern Munich star is available in January, according to reports.

The Germany international has endured a difficult campaign at the Allianz Arena under Niko Kovac this season and is yet to score in the Bundesliga.

Muller was linked with a move to United back when Louis van Gaal was manager but, ultimately, the Red Devils were unable to cough up the money required to strike a deal.

And the Daily Mail now claim the 2014 World Cup winner’s camp have secretly contacted United, letting them know the striker is available.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already confirmed he wants to sign a striker in the New Year, saying last month: “We let Alexis and Romelu go, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that it’s a forward that next time we’re going to recruit – we’re looking for some creativity and goals.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on talks with Ed Woodward

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted the only talks he has had with Ed Woodward are over the long-term strategy at the club.

He told Sky Sports: ”All the talks I’ve had with the owners, with Ed Woodward and the club have been about me having a three-year contract.

“We’re planning long-term. I’ve been given the job and if you lose a game or two, you don’t wait for a call to be given assurances.

“But we started out with a plan and a recruitment plan is in place. I’m 100 per cent sure from my time here that the structure is right because it is always the manager who has the final say.”

Rivaldo warns Liverpool

Rivaldo has warned Liverpool about starting Alisson against Manchester United on Sunday in the Premier League.

“This is his first match in a few months and perhaps it could be a little risky to put him in to play in such a big match, but he is an experienced goalkeeper and he is certainly prepared to show his value if called upon,” Rivaldo told the Mirror.

“Every player loves to play in these kinds of matches. Of course, it would be better to have him fully match fit having played a few games already, but that’s not the case, however his experience and quality should be enough to mask that lack of sharpness.

“He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now and he is used to this kind of big event, so I believe he won’t have any problems with it and he will be as solid in Liverpool’s goal as he always is.”

January transfer plan

United boss Solskjaer has opened up on the club’s plans for the January transfer window.

“January is a difficult window, anyway,” he told Sky Sports.

“But if there are players available and at the right price, I’m sure we will spend. There might be some experienced players who can come in and help the younger players – that might be worth the money.

“So it depends on who is available. I’m not going to go down the route of bringing players in on big contracts and big fees if they’re not the right ones for the whole group and for the future.

“We’re looking at one or two new signings. We’re one or two players light, and we’ve said that, but if the right ones are available in January then we might do something. If not, these players will give everything.”
