Man Utd news LIVE: Real Madrid make Paul Pogba transfer decision because of Erling Haaland

Peter Crouch on Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United spent big in the January window to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon and while Peter Crouch was initially concerned the midfielder might follow other big name signings and fail to live up to his price tag, the former England international has admitted the player is on the way to proving him wrong.

“When Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes last month, I expressed my concerns about the possibility of him ending up like other big signings,” he wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

“Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku were four examples I gave of players who arrived at Old Trafford and failed to live up to their star billing.

“It is encouraging to see, then, that Fernandes has made a bright start to buck the trend.”

Real Madrid not interested in Paul Pogba

Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention away from Paul Pogba meaning Manchester United will have to continue dealing with Mino Raiola despite their recent public falling-out.

Pogba is expected to push for a move away from Old Trafford after barely featuring for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this term.

Injuries have plagued the 26-year-old in what could be his final year as a United player.

Last summer the midfielder attempted to force through a move to join Zinedine Zidane’s Real.

And after a major fallout between his agent Raiola and club the transfer was expected to be completed this summer.

However, Spanish newspaper Marca claim Los Blancos are no longer interested in signing the World Cup winner.

Instead they would rather splash the cash of Borussia Dortmund’s in-form forward Erling Braut Haaland.

Barcelona enter Timo Werner race

Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner which would throw a major spanner in the works for Liverpool and Manchester United’s transfer hopes.

Werner has a £51million release clause which must be activated before April, when the price will then inflate.

The 23-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Bundesliga side scoring 27 goals in all competitions this season.

It has been reported that Liverpool and United will try and get the deal over the line before the summer transfer window opens.

But Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona are now considering entering the race for Werner’s signature.

Jack Grealish told to snub Man Utd

Jack Grealish should snub Manchester United as he is good enough to play for Barcelona, according to former Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor.

He told The Sun: “I am not just saying this as I have played with him, but I honestly think he is the best attacking midfield option that England have got at this current time.

“That is why, when people say Grealish to Manchester United, he could do so much better than that.

“He could walk into any team in the world, even Barcelona or Juventus.

“For where Manchester United are now, he could go to better teams around the world, so he doesn’t need to limit himself to just United and focus on teams who are playing in the Champions League.

“The good thing about Jack is that he can run with and without the ball, play in different positions and score goals. He is the type of player that fans of football will go to a game to specifically watch him, even if they aren’t fans of Villa.”
