Tottenham star Harry Kane warned over future

Liverpool legend Jame Carragher has raised questions about Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s links to Manchester United.

“If Kane does not leave soon, the situation gets trickier for him,” Carragher wrote in his Irish Independent column.

“When players hit 28, psychologically it makes a big difference to clubs. They see them as nearer 30, recognise there is no resale value.

“Manchester United’s need for a top-class No 9 is urgent and they might see Kane as the ideal fit, but they will apply the same logic if the fee is upwards of £150 million (€170m).

“From Kane’s perspective, is United’s situation better than Spurs’s over the past five years? There is a four-point gap in the Premier League but United remain in transition.

“It would be a gamble for Kane to go to Old Trafford given there is no strong evidence United will be ready to challenge for the Premier League soon.

“Even if Kane was 21 or 22, although it would be a no-brainer for all the top clubs to pursue him, it would be difficult to make a deal happen soon.”

Ighalo talks up City win

Manchester United star Odion Ighalo has named the club’s 2-0 win over Manchester City as his favourite moment at Old Trafford so far.

A fan asked on Twitter: “Favourite moment in a Man Utd shirt so far assuming you stay?”

And he said: “Manchester Derby.”

That win over City was achieved in March, with United completely controlling the game against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Anthony Martial opened the scoring in the first half, slicing home a lofted pass from Bruno Fernandes.

And Scott McTominay made sure of the points late on with a stunning strike from distance, making the most of Ederson’s bad positioning.

Harry Kane transfer development

Manchester United have been told they have ‘no chance’ of signing Tottenham star Harry Kane.

The Manchester Evening News say sources close to the England international have dismissed the Red Devils’ chances of signing the striker.

It would take a huge fee for Spurs to even remotely entertain the prospect of selling their captain to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

And it’s now likely that United will try to sign an alternative instead.

Moussa Dembele and Timo Werner are both admired at Old Trafford having impressed for Lyon and RB Leipzig this season.

Odion Ighalo speaks out

Odion Ighalo has admitted he would like to stay at United should they offer him a contract.

“Of course,” he said on Twitter when asked if that was the case.

The Nigeria international has scored four goals from eight games since his shock arrival from Shanghai Shenhua on transfer deadline day.

Shanghai want to offer him a new contract worth £400,000-a-week.

But Ighalo has now made his priority clear.
