Man Utd news LIVE: Ed Woodward approves £125m double transfer, Glazers wealth, Sancho plan

Kylian Mbappe told Man Utd would be good option

Former Fulham striker Brian McBride believes Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United would be a better fit for the striker than a switch to Liverpool.

He said: “If you’re looking to continue getting better its got to be the right fit

“So if you’re going for the right fit, you’ve got to play a certain style. Liverpool is a great club, but do you really want Mbappe pressing all over the field?

“Do you want him defending as much as everyone in that front line at Liverpool does? I don’t think you do.

“I think you want Mbappe with a little bit more freedom, with a little bit of ability to say ‘you know what, we need you to score goals, we need you to get in behind and create a different present for us.

“Real Madrid and Barcelona – who wouldn’t want to have balls played to you from Messi? Whereas Real Madrid are in a little downward turn.

“But if you really want to say ‘I’ve brought a club out of mediocrity, that used to be the prominence, [Manchester United] would be the place to go. You’d have the ability to build around him. You’d have a player that can score goals and get in behind, is a great link up player, and you now have that Man United brand getting back to the top.”

Jerome Boateng offered to Man Utd

Manchester United have the chance to sign Jerome Boateng in January after being offered the defender by Bayern Munich, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Jose Mourinho contemplated a move for the centre-back during his last summer in charge at Old Trafford but club executives vetoed the move.

Bayern wanted £50million for Boateng but United were only willing to pay half that amount.

The German has fallen down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena, now the fourth-choice centre-half for Niko Kovac.

Bayern are aware that the 31-year-old’s value is only set to plummet and want to sell before his contract expires in June 2021.

£125m double transfer planned

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward sent scouts to Germany to watch two transfer targets, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz and Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller.

However, while Muller played the entire game of Bayern’s 2-1 victory over Union Berlin, Havertz didn’t feature at all in Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen.

United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer is hoping the club with be able to add up to four players to his squad in the January window, with the addition of a striker being a priority.

And according to the Mirror, Woodward has authorised a £125million double swoop for Havertz and Muller.

However, scouts had a wasted trip to see Havertz as the 20-year-old didn’t play.

Glazers fortune

The Glazers are worth a staggering £3.6bn but that only puts them in eighth place in the Premier League owners wealth list.

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour tops the table with a monumental £23.3bn.

Roman Abramovich of Chelsea is second with Stan Kroenke of Arsenal third.

Jadon Sancho deal being worked on

Manchester United are already working on a deal to complete the transfer of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The Red Devils are desperate to improve the quality they possess in their squad with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side struggling in the Premier League.

Sancho is one of the hottest properties in Europe with the likes of Liverpool also linked.

But the Sunday Mirror claim United are already working on a deal to bring the 19-year-old to Old Trafford.

That’s instead of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale who has also been linked with a switch to Manchester United persistently for years.
