Man Utd news LIVE: £63m striker snub, Martial target set, injury boost for Solskjaer

United business

Man Utd have gone into partnership with Mondelez International, who brand-create for companies such as Oreo, Milka and Cadbury.

Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold said: “Whether it’s Cadbury, Ritz, Oreo, or one of its many other brands, Mondelēz’s products are renowned around the world.

“This global partnership will assist Mondelēz with its expansion into key markets whilst deepening the affinity their customers have for their products.

“For Manchester United, the partnership enables us to bring Mondelēz’s popular products to our fans and enhances our ability to continue investing on the pitch.”

Erling Haaland blow

Haaland’s close family friend and Norway hero Jan Age Fjortoft has said there’s no chance the teenager will leave for United in the summer.

“I don’t have all the contract details, he has a clause of €75m (£63m) but I don’t think that will be in the first year, so there won’t be a chance of that,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think it would be wise for him [to stay]. He’s 19 and I’m glad Erling Haaland today wakes up in Dortmund.

“It’s better to wake up in Dortmund than in Manchester, Liverpool, Torino, Barcelona or Madrid if you’re a 19-year-old shooting star.”

McTominay update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an injury update on Scott McTominay, who is expected to return to action soon for United.

“He might be in the squad,’ Solskjaer said.

“He had a rest day on [Thursday], so let’s see how he is [on Friday].

“I’ve not been surprised [by how quickly McTominay has recovered] because that’s the type that he is.”

“He is a physical specimen, he’s a leader, he never shirks a tackle and he brings everyone with him.”

Martial set target

Anthony Martial has perked the ears of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by scoring twice week against Chelsea and then Club Brugge in the Europa League.

The Norwegian wants Martial to start pushing the 20-goal mark for United.

“I think Anthony can step up, get a few more and get to the 20 mark. Definitely. He’s got quality of course, he’s a very good finisher,” he said.

“He takes his chances really well. There’s good technique in his finishing. He’s good receiving the ball at times and dropping off.

“He can play almost like a false nine as well. Sometimes I’d like him to be stronger physically.”
