Manchester United star Pogba has emerged as a priority Real Madrid transfer target ahead of the summer window, with the La Liga giants deeming him good enough despite his mixed campaign.
The France international has struggled at times this season, previously under Jose Mourinho and currently under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
That has not deterred Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, however, with the Frenchman’s interest in the Manchester United star dating back years.
And ESPN claim many at Barcelona are confused by Real’s interest in the 26-year-old.
Last summer, the Catalan giants were eyeing Pogba themselves.
But they were unwilling to push the boat out for the Frenchman, with their low offer of £45million plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina immediately rejected.
Barcelona have since moved on, agreeing a deal that will see Ajax maestro Frenkie De Jong arrive at the end of the season.
And ESPN’s revelation suggests they are happy to have missed out on Pogba.
Whether Real are able to land their man remains to be seen, particularly with club president Florentino Perez harbouring doubts over his suitability.
Mina Raiola, the player’s agent, also may prove a difficult obstacle to overcome.
Meanwhile, a United fan named Dan the Red recently rang into talkSPORT and said he would be happy if Pogba NEVER played for the club again.
“I would be delighted if Paul Pogba never played another game for Manchester United,” he raged.
“He creates as many problems as chances on the pitch
“So many times he’ll give the ball away…
“Fred is technically not a very good player and was at fault for the second goal [against Manchester City], but when he gives the ball away he tracks back and sprints his hardest.
“So to see Pogba casually cantering back after losing the ball and creating an opportunity for the opposition, it’s just too much to deal with.
“A huge rebuild is needed in the summer and I would love it if the Paul Pogba transfer fee started it.”
Pogba is a popular figure at United.
But not always among the fans, with the Real Madrid target often being accused of not caring enough.
