Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson laughing as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side lead vs Man City

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson was seen laughing at the Etihad as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side took a lead over rivals Manchester City. Early goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial gave United a shock lead at the home of the Premier League champions.

It was a bright start from the visitors and rewarded with a goal from Rashford, who netted from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Bernardo Silva.

Martial then finished at the near post with the Red Devils getting a lot of joy from their own counter attacks.

And cameras soon panned to Ferguson, who was sat alongside David Gill and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Ferguson appeared to be enjoying the occasion as he could be seen chuckling away following Martial’s strike.

United have struggled since Ferguson retired as boss in 2013.

The Red Devils have not won a league title since the Scot called it a day and are now onto their fourth manager.

David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho all failed to bring regular success to Old Trafford.

And Solskjaer has come under immense pressure in recent weeks following a difficult start to the season.

“Before everyone was doom and gloom but it’s a chance to turn that doubt into belief.

“If we can manage to get another performance, the confidence, the way we played against Tottenham, then we can come out of it with a result.

“City are a better team now than when I was playing and football has changed quite a lot.

“Manchester derbies are always special games, but you can’t say it matters more.

“For the fans, of course [it does]. We’re up for it, our fans are up for it, they were fantastic at home on Wednesday and I’m sure we’ll hear them on Saturday.”
