Man Utd invite 16-year-old Polish defenders Radoslaw Sewerys and Mateusz Lipp on week-long trial with view to transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED are taking two 16-year-old Polish defenders on a week-long trial next month.

Former Arsenal and Sampdoria triallist Mateuz Lipp from the Akademia Chorzów academy and Korona Kielce’s Radoslaw Sewerys both signed professional contracts with their home country clubs last year.

They are expected to be in the stands when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men host Club Brugge in the Europa League return leg on Thursday, level at 1-1.

Chorzów proudly posted the news of Lipp’s trial on their website, while Sewerys has already progressed to the matchday squad for his Polish top-flight club Kielce.

He has yet to come on for the first team but played 44 minutes in the Uefa Youth League and has five U-16 caps.

Both are due to culminate their United trial with a friendly against Cheltenham U-16s.

But it has also been suggested they will watch the United kids in action against 1860 Munich Under-15s and Club Brugge U-17s.

The duo will be buoyed by Solskjaer‘s keenness to bring younger players through.

And after Sunday’s 3-0 defeat of Watford, Solskjaer rated the main example of that – 18-year-old Mason Greenwood – as just two years away from becoming “almost the complete striker”.

In fact, the England U-20 star has already matched Marcus Rashford’s 2016-17 breakthrough season total of 11 goals – and in far quicker time.

Rashford took 48 games, whereas Greenwood reached that mark against Watford in his 33rd match.
