Man Utd 'in talks with agent' over Arturo Vidal transfer – and Ed Woodward can help

Manchester United have reportedly made contact over a possible January transfer for Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Vidal is believed to be frustrated with his limited playing time at Barcelona, and said earlier this season he would reassess his situation in December.

The Chilean midfielder has made nine appearances in La Liga this season, but started only three of those games.

And United have contacted Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich, according to a report from FcInterNews .

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward already has a good working relationship with Felicevich having worked with him over the transfer that took Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan from Old Trafford.

And FcInterNews says United are hoping that relationship will ease the way for Vidal to join them for around £13million.

While United’s priority in the January transfer window is to sign a striker, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also needs midfield reinforcements.

United have been left with limited options in midfield following injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay, after the club did not replace Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera in the summer.

Nemanja Matic could also be on his way out of the club in January having dropped down the pecking order, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

If United do decide to move for Vidal, they could face competition from Inter Milan, who want to take Vidal on a loan deal, according to FcInterNews.

The report claims 32-year-old Vidal would be keen on a move to Milan, where he would be reunited with Antonio Conte, who managed him during his time at Juventus .

But if United do convince him to switch to the Premier League, Vidal would bring a wealth of experience, having also played for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

Among his many trophy successes are four Serie A titles with Juventus and three Bundesliga crowns with Bayern, while he also helped Barcelona to La Liga glory last season.
