Man Utd hero Gary Neville gives bold response when asked if Liverpool will win the league

Manchester United legend Gary Neville jokingly told a fan on Twitter to “f**k off’ when asked if Liverpool had a chance of Liverpool winning the Premier League.

Liverpool missed out on Premier League glory last season by just a solitary point as Manchester City won their second in a row.

But this term, they’re already five points clear of leaders City and seven clear of Neville’s United.

Neville won eight Premier League titles as a player but has since turned to punditry.

On Twitter, Neville took part in a Q&A and was asked if he thought Liverpool would win the league this year.

The Reds haven’t won an English league title in 29 years but it looks like this year may be one of their best chances.

But Neville duly replied: “F@@k off,” much to the delight of Manchester United fans.

The Sky Sports pundit has since deleted his tweet poking fun at Liverpool.

Liverpool beat Newcastle on Saturday 3-1 thanks to goals from Sadio Mane (x2) and Mohamed Salah.

But they had to come through some fire as Newcastle went 1-0 up thanks to a rocket of a finish from Jetro Willems.

City, on the other hand, lost to newly-promoted Norwich 3-2, opening the gap at the table to five points in Liverpool’s favour.

Klopp spoke of his side’s performance against Newcastle with glee.

He said: “I started enjoying after 25 minutes around about when we arrived finally in the game. We needed that, we didn’t want to have that but it’s not unlikely that it can happen because it was really difficult.

“Newcastle did what they did, they do that really well and are always a threat for counter-attacks.

“It’s difficult to press them because they play the ball that early, constantly in a second-ball formation but then they have the speed to go in behind, plus Joelinton is really physically strong fighting for these balls.

“Bobby came on in his natural position, Sadio really flexible in that space, Mo really strong today in one-v-one situations against physical strong players.”
