Man Utd fans will love what new signing Daniel James is doing on holiday


Daniel James will be looking to hit the ground running following his summer switch to Manchester United .

The Welsh winger made the move to Old Trafford after the Red Devils agreed a deal worth up to £18million with Swansea City.

James penned a long-term contract at United but he will be aiming to force his way into manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.

He is not due to report for pre-season training until next month but the 21-year-old wants to make a big impression on his new boss.

The former Hull starlet is on holiday in Dubai but is looking to get a head start on his team-mates by taking in some intense training sessions.

James has been put through his paces by Kaizen 3 Performance , who provide special coaching for footballers.

The wide man has uploaded shared footage on his Instagram account of him training in 39-degree heat, and his commitment to the cause will endear himself to United fans.

“I think the ambition they’ve got for the club is amazing for the next few years – to get players in who are hungry and ready to work hard,” said James after putting pen to paper.

“I believe [in] that and I’m one of those players. I’m willing to work hard. It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”

He is is the only summer arrival so far, while United are interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

However, Juan Mata looks set to extend his stay at the club.

The 31-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2014, becoming a popular figure within the dressing room and the support base.

Mata’s current deal at United expires at the end of June but it is understood negotiations over a new deal have gone positively.

The attack-minded midfielder has scored 45 goals in 218 appearances for United and a new contract will be a boost for a club in the midst of change.

Combative midfielder Ander Herrera and captain Antonio Valencia are leaving on free transfers, while there are questions marks over a number of other key players.

Paul Pogba is keen for a “new challenge” and Romelu Lukaku would welcome an Old Trafford exit, while question marks remain over the future of Alexis Sanchez and David De Gea.
