Man Utd eye Lyon wonderkid Mathis Rayan Cherki for summer transfer once he turns 16

MANCHESTER UNITED are chasing French wonderkid Mathis Rayan Cherki this summer, according to reports.

The Lyon ace, 15, can play either up front or behind a striker and is being eyed by clubs all over Europe.

Cherki can move within the EU once he turns 16 on August 17 and is old enough to sign a professional deal.

As well as United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all thrown their hat into the ring, claims The Telegraph.

While Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas has not given up on persuading the youngster to stay.

United rarely enter the market for foreign talent at this age but Cherki is regarded as one of the best prospects of his generation.

In September, he became the youngest goalscorer in the Uefa Youth League in a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.

And Cherki is a regular for Lyon’s Under-19s, where he has gained experience of coming up against older players.

United have reportedly also been keeping tabs on Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, 22.

The attacking midfielder was set to join Liverpool before his big-money move fell apart last summer.

And with one year remaining on his deal, Fekir will be a target for Prem clubs again.
