Man Utd duo Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward in agreement on transfer target

Manchester United duo Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward both feel that Jadon Sancho is an ideal fit for the club, reports say. The Red Devils are eager to land the winger from Bundesliga titans Borussia Dortmund when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

Manchester United have made Sancho their top transfer target for the summer window, having watched the Borussia Dortmund star flourish in Germany.

The England international, who has been at the Westfalenstadion since touching down from Manchester City in 2017, has become one of the best players on the planet in recent seasons.

And the Evening Standard claim that both Solskjaer and Woodward are in agreement over the 20-year-old.

It’s claimed they consider him an ideal fit because he’s a ‘argue signing who could become a superstar’ at the club.

United boss Solskjaer actually hoped to add Sancho to his squad back in the summer.

However, the club’s failure to finish in the Premier League top four and secure Champions League qualification ultimately saw them miss out.

Now, United are hoping to land Sancho.

And other reports have suggested they’re ready to hand him the No 7 shirt made famous by club icons such as George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.

Liverpool have been linked with Sancho as well, despite the fine form of their attackers this season.

But Jurgen Klopp is happy with having the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at his disposal over on Merseyside.

Chelsea are admirers of the Dortmund star as well.

But United are frontrunners in the race to sign him with both Solskjaer and Woodward pushing for the signing to take place.

“But then I’m a little bit more concerned about my game time there.

“And so you’ve got to hedge all these things up and that’s why I say because we expect the Euros to happen in 2021, which will be about 15 months time, it is hugely important for him to be playing 35, 40, 45 games next year for whatever club it’s at and showcasing his talents.

“Now, is he good enough to make that move and play at a new club? He is.

“But there are no guarantees, apart from the fact we know if he stays at Dortmund under Lucien Favre, he’s going to get game time.

“Jadon Sancho would be perfect on that right-hand side with [Anthony] Martial for example in the centre and Marcus Rashford on the left-hand side.

“It looks like United are quite confident they will get him, they are even keeping the No 7 free, the one that belonged to Alexis Sanchez, or maybe other bigger names before him, ready for Sancho when he moves over.”
