Man Utd complete Radek Vitek transfer from Czech side Sigma Olomouc

Manchester United have secured the signature of teenage goalkeeper Radek Vitek from Czech side Sigma Olomouc.

Vitek, 16, is set to join United on scholarship terms in July.

The Red Devils, who tracked Vitek throughout 2019, agreed a deal to sign the young stopper in January.

However, they have had to wait to formally complete a deal.

Now Vitek admits that, putting pen to paper on a deal with United, is a dream come true.

“It’s a surreal feeling, a move to Manchester United is the dream of a lot of guys who start playing football,” he told the Czech club’s official website.

“I’m really looking forward to it. I admit I didn’t even believe it when I found out about the club’s interest, but now it’s definitely a reality.”

The Czech club’s sporting director, Ladislav Minar, declared: “I am happy to say that Sigma is capable of sending another of its players to a top European club.

“The departure of a player of such a low age is primarily a great prestige, which is a reward not only for the club, but also for the player himself for his hard work.

“Secondly, it is also a financial aspect. If Radek were to play for the Manchester team in the future or move to another club, the financial satisfaction would be of interest to Sigma.”

Vitek’s move to United as a scholar further expands the club’s already-stacked goalkeeping ranks.

Below the club’s three senior goalkeepers, David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Lee Grant, is a bulging collection of young stoppers, of course headed up by England Under-21 ‘keeper Dean Henderson – who has impressed at Sheffield United in the last two seasons.

There is also Kieran O’Hara, the 23-year-old on loan at Burton Albion this term and another Czech, Matej Kovar, the highly-rated Under-23s goalkeeper.

Below that, there are also Nathan Bishop, Paul Woolston, Ondrej Mastny, Jacob Carney, Alex Fojticek, Dermot Mee and Johan Guadagno on the club’s books.
