Man Utd complete Nathan Bishop transfer from Southend United

Manchester United have completed the signing of Nathan Bishop from Southend.

Goalkeeper Bishop, 20, has moved to Old Trafford for an undisclosed fee.

The youngster joined Southend at the age of 16 and made his first-team debut two years later.

Bishop has already made 17 appearances this season for the League One side and will now make the big step to Old Trafford.

“The opportunity to join Manchester United is a dream come true,” Bishop said.

“This club has a great record of developing goalkeepers and I cannot wait to work with the coaches here to improve every single day

“I want to take the chance to thank everyone at Southend United for everything they have done for me throughout my time there; without their support, this move would not have been possible.”

He is set to link up with United’s Under-23 squad for the rest of the season.

Bishop is United’s second January addition following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

Fernandes is in line to make his debut against Wolves but Solskjaer has suggested a deal for Josh King is unlikely.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces the media

“I’m not sure, I don’t expect any more business to be done,” said Solskajer. “I don’t think anything is going to happen.

“Sometimes I say something here and something else happens, sometimes I say I’m happy with a player and he gets a different message, so I don’t want to help or make speculations grow more and more today.

“I expect nothing to happen, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.”
