Man Utd chief Ed Woodward told how many stars to sign in January but transfer worry raised

Manchester United need to sign four players in January, according to former defender Wes Brown. The Red Devils are expected to bring in reinforcements after a poor start to the season.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer always knew this season would be a major rebuilding job.

The Red Devils splashed the cash on strengthening the defence in the summer with the likes of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka arriving in big-money moves.

However, only Swansea winger Daniel James came in to bolster the attacking ranks, while Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku departed.

It means Solskjaer has been left short of forwards and Brown wants to see that rectified when the transfer window reopens next month.

“It would be nice to sign everyone in January,” Brown told the MEN.

“The young lads were very good, very composed and kept the ball well. You could see they were enjoying themselves and it was a fantastic experience for them.

“I remember when I was younger there’s nothing better than getting European games.

“It helps you in the Premier League as well. Ultimately we didn’t get the win but some fantastic performances from the boys.”
