Man Utd chief Ed Woodward plotting three transfers to go with Jack Grealish signing

Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward has made Jack Grealish the club’s No 1 transfer target for the summer window. And reports claim he wants three other players to touch down at Old Trafford when the window reopens at the end of the current campaign.

Manchester United have recently upped the ante when it comes to Grealish, with the Red Devils determined to sign the Aston Villa star.

Ideally, they’d agree terms with the 24-year-old before the end of the month with Woodward keen to sign players as early as possible to give them the best possible chance of settling into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

And, as well as Grealish, the Manchester Evening News say United are eyeing a defensive midfielder and two new forwards.

The Red Devils got three players back in the summer in Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

But it appears that, this summer, United are hopeful of getting four players in the door.

Regarding a defensive midfielder, the club are expected to wave goodbye to Nemanja Matic – despite his recent improved form.

Moussa Dembele is another on their radar, with the Lyon star supposedly open to returning to England.

And United reviving interest in Erling Haaland can’t be ruled out given his sensational form for Dortmund since his January arrival.

Speaking on Tuesday, Woodward admitted that the Red Devils would look to sign top players this summer.

“This season is one of rebuild, with many changes to the squad – in terms of players who have left or gone out on loan; new players who we have brought into the club; and academy graduates that we have brought through to the first team,” Woodward said.

“This process will continue as we implement our plan and our footballing vision under Ole and his coaching staff.

“Despite being linked in the media to 111 players in January, our acquisition of just one of them – Bruno Fernandes – is an important step in that direction, demonstrating our commitment to adding experienced, world-class recruits to the exciting crop of academy graduates that are at the heart of this developing team.

“We will take the same planned, disciplined, approach this coming summer.”

United could also look to sell some players this summer.

Paul Pogba is currently the likeliest to leave the club, with Real Madrid and Juventus both pursuing the France international.

And Dean Henderson is another, with PSG, Tottenham and Chelsea keen on the Sheffield United loan star.
