Man Utd chief Ed Woodward must make crucial decision to land Tottenham star Harry Kane

Ed Woodward can reportedly drastically improve his chances of signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane if he axed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and hires Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

Pochettino has been out of contract since being sacked by Spurs November, despite having a successful five years in north London.

The Argentine turned Spurs into genuine title contenders on a budget much lower their rivals.

Ever since he has been out of a job the 48-year-old has been linked with the United hotseat.

And Goal claim Kane would be more open to joining the Red Devils with his former manager in charge.

However, Solskjaer is likely to remain as United boss after turning around the club’s season.

The Norwegian is enjoying an eight-match unbeaten run and his side have closed the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to just three points.

The £47million January signing of Bruno Fernandes has lifted United – and they could be boosted further by Paul Pogba’s return from injury.

However, the Frenchman is expected to push for a move to Real Madrid or Juventus this summer.

But former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood reckons the pair could be a dream partnership.

“I think they would be magnificent together,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions of Fernandes and Pogba.

Pogba has been ruled out of tonight’s FA Cup clash with Derby County with injury.

It is unclear if the World Cup winner will be fit to return for this weekend’s Manchester derby.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also miss Wayne Rooney’s return to Old Trafford tonight.
