Man Utd captain Ashley Young agrees to £1.5m Inter Milan transfer with medical set for TODAY

ASHLEY YOUNG is on the brink of leaving Manchester United after a £1.5m fee was agreed with Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.

The Red Devils skipper hasn’t been included in United’s last three matchday squads, amid speculation that he was on the verge of a move away from Old Trafford.

Inter, managed by Antonio Conte, are on the verge of signing Leonardo Spinazzola in a straight swap for Matteo Politano.

But the imminent acquisition of another left-back hasn’t deterred Conte from completing a deal for Young.

Inter will pay £1.5m for Young’s services, with the 34-year-old to undergo a medical on Friday.

It could rise the £1.8m with add-ons.

Despite having been signed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a marauding winger back in 2011, Young managed to cling on to a place in the United squad as a full-back in his later years at Old Trafford.

Having originally lost his place to Luke Shaw, Young’s minutes began to dwindle at the Theatre of Dreams.

And now with the emergence of teenage prodigy Brandon Williams under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, Young has become surplus to requirements – despite having featured 18 times this season.

He will depart the club having made an impressive 261 appearances for United.

And his trophy collection is impressive, having won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with the Red Devils.

He also appeared for England at the 2018 World Cup.

And Young isn’t the only Premier League player that former Chelsea boss Conte is targeting this month.

Talks with Christian Eriksen are reportedly ongoing, with the Dane very much expected to become an Inter player this month.

And Olivier Giroud is likely to join the Prem pair at the San Siro this month.

Old Trafford is becoming a particularly regular hunting ground for Inter chiefs, with the Italian giants having signed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer.

Inter are currently embroiled in a Serie A title race – and Conte will be hoping that his latest Premier League acquisitions will make the difference as they look to catch Juventus.
