Man Utd boss Solskjaer sent frustrated seven-word message to Rashford after Tottenham win

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was frustrated after his side’s 2-1 win over Tottenham and said as much to Marcus Rashford, reports say. The victory was just the Red Devils’ fifth in the Premier League so far this season.

Manchester United put recent setbacks against Sheffield United, Astana and Aston Villa aside to beat Tottenham on Jose Mourinho’s first return to Old Trafford since his sacking last year.

The Red Devils went into the game with pressure mounting on Solskjaer, despite Ed Woodward’s repeated insistence that the Norwegian won’t be sacked.

And they got the win they wanted, with Rashford scoring a sublime brace to give United a crucial three points.

After the game, however, the Metro say that Solskjaer was frustrated.

He’s reportedly become annoyed at how United are able to beat teams around or above them in the table – but falter when it comes to facing some of the Premier League’s smaller sides.

And he reportedly said ‘Do you see what I mean now?’ to Rashford after the showdown at Old Trafford.

United appear to up their game considerably when it comes to playing the Premier League big dogs.

They remain the only side to have taken points off Liverpool this season, drawing 1-1 when they met back in October.

United have beaten Chelsea twice this season in the Premier League and Carabao Cup at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge respectively.

They’ve also inflicted a defeat on Leicester – something only Liverpool have managed to do.

And United also held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw when the two teams did battle back in September.

Even last season, when Solskjaer took over from Mourinho, United beat many of the teams considered to be their rivals.

Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal were all beaten on the road in the Premier League and FA Cup.

And United also took points off Liverpool – preventing them from winning the Premier League title and instead gifting the prize to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer hailed Rashford after the club’s win over Tottenham, labelling his performance as ‘absolutely outstanding’.

“Marcus was absolutely outstanding – the best performance he’s had during the year I’ve been here,” the Norwegian said.

“He was strong, direct, taking people on, inside and outside with no fear.

“That’s what we want – we want to see boys enjoying themselves. That’s what the Stretford End want to see.

“That’s what he’s been brought up on: seeing [Ryan] Giggsy or [Andrei] Kanchelskis – actually, maybe he’s too young for Kanchelskis – but that says everything about the boy and the potential.

“He’ll be excellent. He’s played all the games more or less this season.

“The boy’s getting fitter and fitter and more and more experienced – what a performance! Two goals, creates them himself, could’ve, should’ve had two more, there were great saves by the keeper.

“A free-kick that is going in all the way, but just at the end it curls outside. So, it was a fantastic performance by the boy.”
