And The Athletic reports that Solskjaer sent his most trusted talent spotter Simon Wells to see Haaland play in the Champions League.

Leeds-born Haaland is the son of Alf-Inge and has so far lived up to his name after leaving Molde.

Solskjaer worked with the youngster at his former club and is considering a move after seeing him thrive in Austria.

Haaland has been linked with Barcelona but the Catalan outfit have reportedly been put off by Salzburg’s £85million price tag.

And in a blow to United, the Express is claiming that Bayern Munich are joining the race for the highly-rated teen.

The hotshot striker has already won two caps for Norway and was asked about playing for a European giant while on international duty this week.

But he remained tight lipped, replying: “You know my answer. No comment.”

United boss Solskjaer is in need of options up front and is still mulling over an emergency bid for Juventus outcast Mario Mandzukic in January.

But the Old Trafford chief is keen to secure young talent and build for the future and is also keeping tabs on Jadon Sancho.
