Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the one signing that he must make

Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes the Red Devils need to think about replacing Ashley Young.

The 33-year-old has been first-choice at Old Trafford and has signed a new contract at the club.

But Keown thinks Solskjaer should look to strengthen in that position.

“We know he [Solskjaer] will be given money to spend,” Keown said on Match of the Day.

“Central defence is certainly a position, Herrera hasn’t signed his contract in midfield, perhaps a midfielder, and definitely a right-back.

“Ashley Young is getting on in years so definitely a right-back. They’re not far away.

“This is a team in the quarter-finals of the Champions League so it’s not wholesale changes but it’s going to be expensive.”

Manchester United do have Diogo Dalot in their ranks who could be a long-term replacement for Young.

Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are both in the Red Devils squad but are expected to exit the club this summer.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw has praised the appointment of Solskjaer as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.

“It’s massive credit to the boss for what he’s achieved so far in a short space of time here,” he said.

“We’re all very happy for him and all excited for him to be here for the next few years.

”And us as players, he’s managed to turn it around massively and that’s credit to him.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him for the days and years to come.“

United return to action on Tuesday when they take on Wolves at Molineux in the Premier League (7.45pm).
