Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent scouts to watch striker during England vs Kosovo

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his front line when the winter transfer window opens in the New Year.

Solskjaer despite his best efforts wasn’t able to replace Romelu Lukaku who moved to Inter Milan before the summer transfer window closed last month.

Muriqi only moved to struggling Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the summer in a bargain £3.1 million but he started the season in impressive form.

He has scored twice in the opening three Super Lig games and Fenerbahce are being tempted to cash in by making a massive quick profit.

Solskjaer will, however, face plenty of competition for his services with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino also looking at him.

Pochettino is looking for someone to take the pressure off England skipper Harry Kane and believes that Muriqi could be the man to do that.

Muriqi who scored 25 times for Turkish minnows Caykur Rizespor has also had Napoli check him out but they cannot compete with money on offer from the Premier League.

Solskjaer admitted after the 1-0 win over Leicester that his side were far from perfect, and could enter the market to give United a better chance of securing Champions League football.

He said: “There were many reasons why we needed a win today.

“For the boys, that they can see what we’re doing is the right way. I thought the first 20-25 minutes were excellent.

“Then, of course, we played against a good team as well and they made it hard for us and we made it hard for ourselves with some bad decisions.

“We’ve deserved to win games and we haven’t got what we deserved. Today, maybe Leicester deserved a point, I think we should be honest enough to say that. They [our players] hung in there, defended and the crowd just got us over the line.”
