Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has broken own rule over Paul Pogba

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been looking to overhaul his squad this summer and is willing to show the exit to players who aren’t committed to his approach.

However, according to the Manchester Evening news, the Norwegian is willing to make an exception for Paul Pogba, despite the player seeking a move away from Old Trafford in the summer.

The 26-year-old suggested his time at United could soon be coming to an end when he admitted it could be a good time to have a new challenge at another club at the beginning of the summer.

However, United see the World Cup winner as an indispensable figure in the squad and as such have fended off interest from Real Madrid and Juventus for the midfielder.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane is keen on brining Pogba to Madrid, however, Untied are very reluctant to sell the player in this window.

United are adamant they would not let the player leave the club for less than the £89million they paid Juventus for him back in summer of 2016 and in turn have placed a reported £150m price tag on Pogba.

Although the club have not taken the same position with other players who had been in the squad, as Romelu Lukaku was sold to Inter Milan for £74m.

The Belgian had fallen behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order under Solskjaer and as a result had sought an exit from the club.

Drawn-out talks between the two clubs eventually resulted in an agreement and new Inter boss Antonio Conte finally signed the player who had scored 42 goals in 96 games for United over the last two years.

In January United allowed Marouane Fellaini to join Chinese club Shandong Luneng and in the summer midfielder Ander Herrera and former club captain Antonio Valencia, both left the club after their contracts expired.

Another player who is on the verge of leaving is Alexis Sanchez, with the Chilean striker set to join Lukaku at Inter on a loan deal.

The 30-year-old has struggled to during his time at Old Trafford and has scored only five goals in 45 appearances since he left Arsenal in January 2018.

Inter have reached an agreement with United to take Sanchez on loan for 10 months but there is not an option for the Serie A club to buy the player as part of the deal.

However, reports claim the Italian side will be paying around 75 per cent of his £400,000-a-week wages.

After United’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend Solskjaer addressed the transfer speculation surrounding Sanchez’s future.

“Alexis is a quality player and as you say we don’t have loads of options,” Solskjaer said.

“So if there’s an offer good enough for the club and him maybe he’ll go.

“If not, he’s still our player and he’s quality player and he’s been training well, no doubt about quality either.”
