Man Utd and Liverpool on Jadon Sancho four-team transfer shortlist ahead of Dortmund exit

Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the four possible transfer destinations for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move back to the Premier League after leaving Manchester City’s in the summer of 2017, and he now feels more determined to leave Germany than ever.

The Athletic have reported that Sancho feels ‘humiliated and scapegoated’ by the actions of chiefs at his current club, pushing him to force a move at the end of the season.

The England forward was dropped and fined but he club after returning late from international duty before the win over Borussia Monchengladbach in October, before being openly criticised by sporting director Michael Zorc.

Sancho was then substituted by Lucien Favre after just 36 minutes in the recent capitulation against Bayern Munich, who called the player out for not playing well enough.

The youngster managed 13 goals and 16 assists in 43 appearances in his first season as a regular at the Westfalenstadion last time out, making 11 outings for England in the same period.

The report goes on to claim that chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke needed assurance from Sancho’s representatives in the summer that the player would not try and force a move away in January, but his stance could now have changed with recent developments.

Despite his difficult relationship with the club over the last month, Sancho has managed four goals and seven assists in 16 displays so far this season, keeping Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona interested.

Sancho has put the La Liga duo on a shortlist of clubs he would be interested in joining, alongside United and Liverpool.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently opened up on the club’s plan for the January transfer window, and hinted that they could spend big if certain targets become available.

“It is not about ‘X’ amount of money we have to spend,” said Solskjaer.

“It is about who do we think will be good for the club in the long-term, not just three or four months.

“The targets we have are probably not available in January.

“Not many clubs want to sell players that they would otherwise want to keep in January.

“Maybe one or two could be a loan deal but that is not a big money thing, it is just to help the team.”

Liverpool could also opt to strengthen their squad in the winter window as they hunt down a maiden Premier League title, with Jurgen Klopp recently ruling out a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
