A man has been given a community sentence after farting in the general direction of police during a strip search.
A judge let rip at Stuart Cook, 28, when he appeared in court for drugs offences after he was stopped by police.
Officers got wind that something was amiss when they saw him at the side of the road following a crash at the Lang Stract in Aberdeen.
As they approached, they got a whiff of cannabis so took him into custody.
Feeling like he had been dealt a bum deal, Cook became irate as he was handcuffed and started shouting at police.
He continued to vent on his way to Kittybrewster police station, screaming expletives and ‘puffing out his chest towards officers’.
At the station he was asked to bend over when he deliberately broke wind during a strip search while saying ‘how do you like that?’
Cook, from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, had previously admitted possession of cannabis and to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and screaming aggressively, displaying aggressive body language, making a lewd remark towards police and ‘intentionally flatulating’ in the direction of police.
Defence solicitor Laura Gracie said her client had been involved in a minor traffic accident. She said: ‘He had been smoking a cannabis joint at the time and felt police overreacted in the way they dealt with him.
‘He became increasingly upset with them and acted in the manner libelled.’
Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Cook to carry out 75 hours of unpaid work.
