Man says he washes in his wife's used bathwater and it's really dividing opinion

There’s different boundaries in every relationship.

Where some like to ‘keep the mystery’, others are more than happy to share a toothbrush or use the toilet in front of their other half.

But one man who revealed that he cleans himself in his wife’s used bathwater has sparked a huge debate, from some happily owning up to doing the same – even with their children – to others labelling it ‘completely gross’.

The debate even seems to have torn loyalty with the man himself, who admitted that he doesn’t consider it to be ‘normal’.

Writing on Netmums, he said: “I have always wondered what my first post should be but after a conversation with my wife this evening I now have one.

Even he said he didn’t think it was ‘normal’

“Is it normal to share the bath water with your other half? By this I mean wife has a bath, she gets out then I get in her water and have a bath. Not have a bath together to clarify.

“My wife thinks it’s normal but I don’t. I only shower as I don’t like baths so [that’s] maybe why but looking for what others have to say.

“I don’t even swim in swimming pools or go in hot tubs – but I love the sea or open water.”

As strong opinions flooded in, many were disgusted by the idea, with one replying: “Absolutely not a chance!! My mum and dad used to and it would seriously give me the boke. Sitting in someone else’s manky water. Hell no.”

Some replied to tell him it isn’t 1940

A second said: “Nope nope nope. Baths completely gross me out anyway, but the thought of jumping in after my hubs has been in there makes me shudder.”

Another wrote: “Absolutely normal!…in 1940.”

Some mums saw no problem with it – on one key condition. One replied: “My husband will say to me save the bath water and he would get in. I wouldn’t get in his, lol.”

But for others, it was totally normal, as one argued: “We do! Not very often, it’s mainly for quickness so I can sit down on a evening.

“My partner goes in first though as I wouldn’t like my shaved hairs floating in the water.”

Another said: “We do. I have a scolding hot bath if I haven’t shaved my partner will get in after me as he’s absolutely filthy from work so for him it’s quicker.

“Then he has time to relax normally, can’t get straight in as it’s so hot for him I like to boil myself for a bit – or I’ll add cold and give the kids a bath instead.”
