Manchester City face Burnley in the only Premier League game on Monday night, with both sides hoping to finish the season strongly.

Pep Guardiola’s team are likely to finish the season in second place, but still need a few more wins to assure themselves of that spot and looked extremely strong in their 3-0 win over Arsenal.

For Burnley, the last nine games are about sealing a top-half finish with a consistent run, though a European place is still an outside possibility, too.

City ran out 4-1 winners at Turf Moor when the sides met earlier in the campaign, and their match fitness might prove superior having already played their game in hand last week.

What is the team news?

City lost centre-back Eric Garcia to injury after a collision with Ederson against Arsenal and the defender is definitely out. Guardiola may opt to rotate his side after the likes of Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero started on the bench against the Gunners.

Burnley have doubts over Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes is recovering from a hernia operation. Burnley have yet to agree extensions with a number of players who are out of contract on 30 June.

Predicted line-ups

Man City: Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Mendy; Rodri, de Bruyne, D Silva; B Silva, Aguero, Sterling.

Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor; Hendrick, Cork, Westwood, McNeil; Rodriguez, Vydra.

What are the odds?

Man City – 3/19

Draw – 17/2

Burnley – 25/1

Prediction

Man City looked exactly as you’d expect in their first game back: confident on the ball, plenty of attacking intent and utterly untroubled at the other end. Burnley should present a more organised outfit than Arsenal did, but the likelihood of Sean Dyche’s side troubling Guardiola’s, especially without two key forwards, is minimal.

Man City 3-0 Burnley
