Man City 1-0 Brighton LIVE: Gabriel Jesus gives Pep Guardiola's side early lead

This will be the first meeting between Brighton and Manchester City in the FA Cup since January 1983, when the Seagulls won a fourth round tie en route to their only previous appearance in an FA Cup final.

Brighton just can’t keep hold of the ball right now, Murray is very isolated up top and the Seagulls haven’t yet broken into the City final third and looked like testing Ederson.

The Seagulls have everyone back inside their own half defending, with City playing the ball comfortably around the pitch at the moment. When Brighton do get on the ball they are giving it away far too easily, with Murray unable to hold the ball up for his teammates.

Knockaert is given a warning by the referee after he throws himself to the ground and appeals for a foul after breaking forward on the counter. It looks like he hasn’t been booked due to how early on in the game we are.

Brighton just need to settle the game down now, get on the ball and string a few passes together after a hectic opening period and they’ve had to do a lot of defending.

GOOOAAALLL! It’s taken just four minutes for Manchester City to take the lead, it’s 1-0! Jesus the man on the scoresheet, finishing off a fine move. Laporte plays a glorious pass out wide, it get laid back to De Bruyne who whips a superb cross into the box, perfect for Jesus to run onto and head the ball into the bottom corner. He simply couldn’t miss from there.

It’s an inch perfect cross from De Bruyne and Jesus was unmarked at the far post to head the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box.

It’s all City in the opening few minutes, with De Bruyne and Sterling already getting on the ball in the final third and Brighton are having to sit deep and defend in numbers.

City go on the attack early on, winning the ball off Brighton straight away and De Bruyne wins a corner. However, Brighton defend the corner well and manage to clear the danger.

Sergio Aguero misses out of the City squad completely, with Pep Guardiola not risking the striker today, so Jesus starts as the main forward. Mendy comes in at left-back, replacing the injured Oleksandr Zinchenko. Meanwhile for Brighton, they make four changes to the side that were beaten by Chelsea in midweek, as Montoya, Bernardo, Knockaert and Murray return to the side.

This is only a second FA Cup semi-final for Brighton, who were quarter-finalists last season. They last played at Wembley back in 1983 when they lost the final against Manchester United. The Seagulls have lost their last two Premier League games, suffering defeats against Southampton and Chelsea.

Manchester City are still on for the quadruple this season, having already lifted the EFLCup at Wembley earlier this season. They last lifted this trophy back in 2011, when they beat Stoke City in the final. However, they did make it to the final again two years later, but suffered a 1-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic. They come into today’s game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City on Wednesday.

The two sides met earlier in the Premier League season, with City securing a 2-0 victory at the Etihad. However, the two teams won’t meet again until the final day of the season, a game that could be vital for both sides at opposite ends of the table, as it looks like the title race will go down the wire. Meanwhile Brighton are only five points above the final relegation spot.
