Both men and women are turning their spare space into a smart gaming room or beauty hideaway.

Fancy making your own special space? Here’s where to start . . .

TAKE A SEAT: Think about what kind of seat you want. Bean bags are great and currently you can get a grey high-back bean bag and matching footstool for £39.99 on Amazon, slightly cheaper than a similar set sold on wayfair.co.uk for £42.99. If you are after something a little more luxurious, The Range has a beautiful blush ice velvet stool for £19.99, perfect for your beauty corner.

LIGHT IT UP: Poundland has a great range of fairy lights including red berry bulbs for £1 that would look perfect hung up around the space. For something more out there, why not try a neon sign? Amazon has a lip-shaped neon sign for £9.99 that is sure to add glamour to your space and is cheaper than a similar one sold on Trouva for £50.

GO, GO, GADGET: What you fill your space with is up to you — maybe a gaming monitor, laptop, PlayStation, or beauty devices. I have found some great discounted TVs on AO.com; you can grab a 32in Toshiba Smart TV for just £198, down from £229. In a small space it will feel like you are at the cinema and it even comes with Netflix.

SAVE: £31

OWN IT: Last but not least, your hideaway is not complete without a statement sign on the door. On personalisedgiftshop.co.uk you can buy a wooden man cave sign for £6.95, or on Etsy you can snap up a shabby chic personalised wooden plaque for £4.99. It is slightly cheaper and gives you more freedom with your design.
