Maison Fenty names key executive

Rihanna’s been making headlines with her upcoming label, Maison Fenty, the
first luxury fashion house that LVMH has backed since Christian LaCroix in
1987. Now, it’s time for LVMH to start building the team to poise the brand
for success. Véronique Gébel has been appointed to lead the business side
of the new fashion house. The news was reported by Business of Fashion.

Gébel has worked at LVMH since 1997, and has worked for many brands in the
company’s portfolio including Givenchy, Fendi, and most recently Louis
Vuitton. In 2007, she was appointed director of men’s and women’s
ready-to-wear for Louis Vuitton. In her new role she will
oversee ready-to-wear and accessories, including shoes, sunglasses and
jewelry, reporting to LVMH executive committee member Jean-Baptiste Voisin.

Ever since LVMH and Rihanna have confirmed they would be launching a
fashion label together, it has become one of the most talked about topics
in the fashion industry. After the success of her beauty line, which is on
track to becoming a billion dollar brand, all eyes are on Rihanna to see
what she will produce for Maison Fenty, and how it will position itself in
the luxury market. Customers got a taste of her design capabilities with
Fenty Puma, but now LVMH will be taking this to a whole different level.
The collection is set to debut in Paris at the end of this month.
