Maid of honour stuns guests at sister's wedding by turning up in fancy dress

It’s become increasingly fashionable (especially for the laid-back bride) to let bridesmaids choose their own dresses .

After all, no two women are the same, and there’s no reason why the women you presumably love the most in the world should all look identikit.

That said, you run the risk one of your crew will make a completely outlandish fashion choice, like maid-of-honour, Christina Meador, recently did.

Christina performed her duties for bride, Deanna Adams, 40, of Nebraska, dressed somewhat unconventionally.

Eschewing a dress or even a tuxedo, Christina plumped for a giant inflatable Tyrannosaurus rex costume. As you do.

This actually happened

Luckily, Deanna was completely relaxed about the choice of outfit.

Christina, 38, from Texas, later shared an image of herself in her dino get-up from the ceremony to Facebook after the wedding on August 10 where it quickly attracted a LOT of attention, and was subsequently was shared again on Reddit .

She captioned the post with: “When you’re maid of honor and told you can wear anything you choose… I regret nothing.”

Later she told FEMAIL: “About a year ago my big sister texted me asking if I would be her maid of honor.

“She, knowing that I’m not a big fan of wearing formal dresses and that I probably wouldn’t have a lot of money to buy something really nice, reassured me by letting me know that I could pick out any outfit that I choose.

Strong look

“I was trying to think of something that I would be willing to wear more than once and thought to myself, ‘Well, she did say anything, and if I’m spending more than $50, I want it to be a dinosaur costume, because they’re fantastic and I’ve always wanted one.

“I sent her a text so that she could have a laugh – surprisingly she was ok with it!”

Although she toyed with several other ideas – including a Tardis costume – she eventually found one which was perfect.

As you’d expect, the wedding guests were completely tunned by the unorthodox choice of outfit.

“It was hot!” Christina recalled. “I remember being surprised that everyone seemed to be doing their best to avoid noticing the elephant in the room (or should I say dino) but it was hard to see in the costume.”

Neither Christina nor her sister have any regrets

The reception to the costume has mostly been positive, but to the negative comments, the bride herself makes a strong point:

“It’s not a joke, it’s a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks.

“The point was to get married to the man who treats me like I hung the moon, and we did that part.

“My sister is awesome and I genuinely was not kidding when I said she could wear whatever she wanted.”
