Magnum launches world’s first ruby chocolate covered ice cream

Everyone’s favourite indulgent ice cream brand, Magnum, has launched the world’s first pairing of ruby chocolate and ice cream.

The brand has dipped white chocolate ice cream with a raspberry swirl into ruby chocolate to create Magnum Ruby, the new addition to its range.

The world’s fourth type of chocolate (after dark, milk and white), ruby chocolate was created by high-quality chocolate producer, Barry Callebaut, after a decade of development.

The chocolate is made from the ruby bean, with naturally present flavour and colour tones meaning it is free from artificial colours and flavourings. The taste has a berry flavour with tangy notes.

While the ice cream itself isn’t ruby chocolate flavoured, Magnum is the first company to coat its ice cream in Ruby chocolate – and UK shoppers have the opportunity to try it first.

Available in supermarkets this week, the ice cream retails for £3.69 for three full-size sticks, £3.89 for six mini sticks and £2 for a single stick.

Magnum isn’t the first big brand to coat its wares in Ruby chocolate – in April 2018 Nestlé covered its four-finger KitKat in the chocolate which has been available to buy in the UK ever since.
