Criss Angel has revealed his five-year-old son’s cancer has returned after 11 months in remission, and he’s organising a fundraiser to help other children going through the same thing.

The magician, 51, revealed his son Johnny Crisstopher had once again been diagnosed with leukaemia after spending almost a year free of the illness.

He told TMZ: ‘He got diagnosed with paediatric cancer before he was two years old, he’s been in treatment for over three years and he’s been in remission, but unfortunately he had a relapse and he’s going back into hospital on Monday.

‘But in light of that and all these kids that suffer with paediatric cancer we’re going to try to raise $5million (£3.8million) in one night at Planet Hollywood, that will happen next year.

‘One child every two minutes is diagnosed with it.’

He also told the reporter that the family are making the most of a break before Johnny begins treatment again, and flew in to Los Angeles to head to Disney and Universal Studios.

Criss is hoping to enlist other magicians and performers for the event in Las Vegas next year, in order to raise the target amount to help other children with cancer and is hoping to release details of the fundraiser before the end of the year.

Johnny was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia in 2015, when he was almost two years old, and was finally in remission at the start of this year.

Since the initial diagnosis, Criss started the Johnny Crisstopher Children’s Charitable Foundation too help raise awareness and provide funds for research and treatment.

His first benefit event, H.E.L.P. in Las Vegas in 2016 raised over $1million (£763,000) and he received the first American Cancer Society Compassionate Heart Award in 2018.

Criss shares Johnny with his longterm girlfriend Shaunyl Benson, and the couple also have an 11-month-old son, Xristos Yanni.
