Maggots Trailer Is Here to Feast on Your Guts [Exclusive]

We have the exclusive trailer for Neil Meschino’s upcoming Maggots. The movie features giant, mutant maggots that end up terrorizing a group of college kids. These college students are on their way to uncover evidence of these sick and twisted mutations caused by pollution from a nearby mysterious fracking site in the mountains of upstate New York. From the looks of the trailer, we’re all in for some campy horror-comedy fun with some pretty impressive special effects. You can see for yourself below, but it isn’t for the faint of heart.

The story of Maggots centers on a university science major as he leads an expedition into the mountains to search for evidence of pollution from a nearby fracking site. They end up finding all the evidence they can handle when they are attacked by a horde of giant, mutant, man-eating maggots. It’s a fight for survival as they must destroy these maggots before they can become flies and take over the world. It’s going to be a crazy and intense battle because these maggots mean business as they try to take over the world. With that being said, it looks like everything should come up just fine with flies taking over the world.

Maggots stars Lawrence George as Stan Baxter, Luke Pendley as Brett, Kasie Renee Yu as Amy, Julia Salka as Bobbie, Cal Corvino as Murph, James Murphy as Professor McNeil, Edward X Young as Ranger Rick Recker, Rick Haymes as Ranger Ed Grimes, Vito Trigo as the Roommate, Damien Depaolo as the Wigger, David Pringle as the Newscaster, and Zach Fox as the gas station attendant. In addition to directing the movie, Neil Meschino wrote the story with Clint Tuccio. Meschino is arguably best-known for his previous movie Mold, which came out in 2012.

Like Mold, Maggots is made in the style of the low-budget tradition of ’80s creature features such as The Deadly Spawn and Night of the Creeps. Maggots has been hailed as “an affectionate homage to the sci-fi horror thrillers of yesteryear.” Neil Meschino has stepped up his game quite a bit from his last feature and he has had fans wondering about the release of his latest opus. The director has been keeping fans up to date on the official Facebook page for the movie, but we are now able to finally provide a release date for the long-awaited Maggots.

Maggots will officially hit VOD on December 22nd and will also find a home on Vimeo. Fans of campy horror-comedies are not going to want to miss this one. Neil Meschino last updated the official page for the movie back in October and said that the trailer and release date news were on the way. Thankfully, that day has come and you can check out our exclusive trailer for the movie above. But don’t say we didn’t warn you. There are some pretty gruesome scenes in the trailer with a hint of body horror thrown into the mix for good measure.
