Madonna’s age was blamed for the tour cancellations as she promised to listen to her body.
The singer, 60, pulled out of a Lisbon gig with only 2.5 hours until she was meant to storm the stage because she needed to rest after boozing on the white Port during her concert the day before.
Just hours before the stage, Madonna issued a public apology to concert-goers and she said needed rest as she was struggling to keep up with the string of performances she had lined up.
In a fury, fans took to Twitter to hash out their complaints about the Material Girl hitmaker’s eighth cancellation by cruelling trolling her age.
“Cancelled again. Too old to tour. Stay home,” one fan wrote, leading the bitter comments.
Another added: “Wow people traveled from another country to see you, and now this? You have cancelled on us twice… if your body can’t hack it,it’s obviously too old. You’ve cost us thousands of dollars, never again. You’re crown is tarnished forever.”
Further sources divulged Madonna can’t keep up with the pace of back-to-back tours as she can’t bounce back like she used to, according to Radar .
A source told the publication: “She is getting older and when she goes hard one night she won’t be able to bounce back as she used to the next night. That’s how she is.
“In my opinion, she shouldn’t be scheduling back-to-back shows anyway, knowing this.”
The source added: “But at the same time, she wants to act like she can still keep up, chug alcohol, and everything is fine. That’s not how it works when you’re 60. I commend her for trying, but also, when you have to cancel shows several times and disappoint fans: that’s not cool.”
Madonna apologised to her fans when she bowed out of performing on Monday as she said she must give into her body and rest.
The singer admitted the white Port had got her through the last show but she had to take her much-needed resting time.
She wrote: “Sorry I had to cancel tonight but I must listen to my body and rest!! That white Port got me through the rest of the show! See you on Tuesday fingers crossed.”
Many fans swamped her Instagram post with their concerns for her health and shared their love for her.
“Girl cancel the tour…your health is the most important,” one fan wrote.
“Listen to your body. Everything else has to wait. Get well soon.”
“Madonna!! Please cancel the whole tour and rest, and then come back, reschedule the tour!”
