Madeleine West mocks yuppies who move to Byron Bay

‘They have perfect hair and makeup’: Madeleine West jokes about people who move from big cities to Byron Bay… after relocating to the trendy town from Melbourne

Madeleine West has mocked city types who move to Byron Bay, despite relocating to the coastal town herself earlier this year.

The 39-year-old actress, who previously lived in Melbourne, told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday that Byron Bay is filled with wannabes now.

‘The thing I laugh about is the people who come from big cities to Byron and suddenly start “being Byron”,’ she said.

Madeleine explained that these people wear contrived bohemian outfits while actual Byron Bay locals just wear T-shirts and shorts.

‘They have the perfect hair, the perfect outfit and the perfect makeup,’ she added.

Madeleine is busy promoting the second season of Channel 10’s Playing for Keeps, which follows the private lives of a Melbourne footy team and the players’ wives.

The popular series returns to Channel 10 on Wednesday, October 16.

When she’s not working as an actress, the mother-of-six is busy focusing on charity work with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Melbourne.

Earlier this year, she told WHO magazine that her dedication to her charity work was keeping her away from her young children.

Justifying her long absences, she said: ‘I hope my kids acknowledge that in my imperfectly perfect way, I’m striving to be the best parent that I can be for them.’

Madeleine shares five daughters and one son with her ex-partner, celebrity chef and MasterChef guest judge Shannon Bennett.

The former couple split in 2018 after 13 years together but remain on good terms.
