Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo has told how her grandmother is in hospital battling coronavirus just weeks after her grandfather passed away from the deadly virus.

The 25-year-old, who recently lost her grandfather Bertie to Covid-19 told Kate Thornton on her podcast White Wine Question Time that her nan caught the virus from her late husband but is now ‘coming out the other side’.

‘We have had a bit of a difficult time as a family,’ she told the host.

‘My grandfather passed away a couple of weeks ago. He will be put down as a coronavirus death.

‘We knew he had it about ten days before he passed away, but my grandfather has been very ill for the last six months to a year and in and out of hospital, so in the end it was that.’

She went on to explain: ‘My grandmother actually caught it off him in hospital.

‘When it all happened I thought it’s not going to come near me or my family and friends but I can’t believe how many people close to me and their family members – it doesn’t discriminate.’

‘I spoke to my grandmother yesterday and she’s turned a corner thank goodness so we are just concentrating on making sure she’s alright. She was actually having a glass of white wine so she must have turned a corner!

‘If there’s a silver lining I’m hoping she’s got immunity now.’

Earlier this month, the reality star shared a video of her and her grandad singing during her 25th birthday celebrations and said she was trying hard ‘not to feel so sad’ as she remained separated from her wider family as they mourned.

She explained: ‘I’ve been a little bit quiet as we lost my Grandad over the weekend. I’m trying not to feel so sad because there’s too much sadness at the moment.

‘I already miss him terribly, and someone sent me this. We had no idea we were being filmed it was my 25th birthday last year. We were the stragglers at the table not wanting to leave when everyone else had!

‘I will forever miss listening to Sinatra with you. I’m going to keep myself busy and keep smiling (no more crying – he would hate that) and hopefully the time will go quickly so I can see the rest of the family.’

The reality star went on to thank people for being there for the family, ‘particularly anyone who cared for him.’

Georgia – who grew up in Torquay and still makes regular trips home – had previously shared pictures of her and her grandad while she was visiting him in the resort.

She didn’t share any more details on her grandad’s death on social media.
