Madden 20: Week 7 roster update big movers – Stephon Gilmore, Kyle Van Noy, Marcus Mariota

The weekly Madden 20 roster update is now live. It has moved Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams and Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens, but it has also sent some player OVRs sky rocketing and others plummeting.

So which players have seen their quality play rewarded with a ratings boost, and which see their on-field struggles translate to Madden?

Stephon Gilmore, New England Patriots (94 – 97 OVR)

Position: CB

Age: 28

Stat Upgrades: ZCV +4, TAK +4, AWR +3, JMP +2, PRS +2, PRC +1, MCV +1, SPD +1

Stephon Gilmore takes over the mantle of best cornerback in Madden with his new 97 OVR. The Patriots All-Pro corner has continued his stellar 2018 season into this year. He has two interceptions (including one for a touchdown) and 8 pass deflections on the season already. With massive improvements to awareness (98), zone coverage (94), and tackling (65), Gilmore is more deadly on Madden than ever.

Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (78 – 82 OVR)

Position: LOLB

Age: 28

Stat Upgrades: PRC +12, AWR +10, STR +3, IBL +3, BSH +3, PUR +3, SPD +2

A second defensive Patriot gets an upgrade as Madden 20 moves to reflect the Patriots superb defensive unit this season. Kyle Van Noy has had 2 forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks, 7 QB hits, and 3 pass deflections so far this year, as well as recovering a fumble and taking it for a touchdown. He has had an enormous boost to play recognition (97) and awareness (96) to make him one of the smartest players in Madden 20, while increases to speed (84), strength (76), and block shed (77) will make him a better user LB too.

Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers (73 – 77 OVR)

Position: MLB

Age:

Stat Upgrades: PRC +9, AWR +8, MCV +2, ZCV +2, PUR +1

The San Francisco 49ers defense has also had a monstrous start to the season, thanks in part to their second-year middle linebacker. Warner has picked up 31 tackles, a forced fumbler, and two pass deflections while starting to take up more communication responsibilities in the heart of the defense. Warner has had a huge boost to his play recognition (81) and awareness (83), as well as his coverage skills (68 man, 74 zone).

Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans (79 – 73 OVR)

Position: QB

Age:

Stat Decreases: AWR -7, MAC -4, DAC -3, TUP -3, RUN -2, SAC -2

It looks like Marcus Mariota’s time in Tennessee is finally over. The former second-overall pick has struggled this year, completing just 59.1 percent of his passes at 7.4 yards per attempt and has now been benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill. His raw numbers of 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions don’t yell “bench him!”, but with a 2-4 record and under 200 yards per game the Titans have struggled this year and scored just 1 touchdown in their last 2 games.

Mariota’s awareness (73) takes a massive hit while his accuracy has dropped (86 short, 81 medium, 83 deep) and his throw on the run (83) and throw under pressure (84) have dropped too.
