M25 crash: Man arrested after smash between lorry and motorcyclist



A driver has been arrested after a serious crash on the M25 which left a motorcyclist with “serious injuries”.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson told the Standard a person had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the accident which involved a motorcyclist and a lorry.

“Police were called at 6.56am today following a collision just before J17 of the M25 anti-clockwise,” the force said in a statement.

“A motorcyclist and lorry were involved and the motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries.

“One person has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

“We’re still at the scene at this time.”

An air ambulance landed on the scene shortly after the crash, shutting the clockwise carriageway and leaving miles of congestion extending as far as Heathrow Airport.

Motorists have reported taking “an hour to edge forward two miles”, according to Essex Live.

Frustrated social media users have asked if the motorway will ever reopen.

A spokesman for Highways England said: “The M25 in Hertfordshire is closed anticlockwise between junction 18 (near Chorley Wood) and junction 17 (Mill End) due to a serious road traffic collision.

“Hertfordshire Police, emergency services and Highways England traffic officers are currently in attendance.”
