Lukaku hands Man Utd injury scare after missing Belgium training for MRI scan on foot

ROMELU LUKAKU added to Manchester United’s injury worries as he missed training with Belgium to have an MRI scan on his niggling foot injury.

The crocked striker sat out Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final loss at Wolves with the same problem after hitting six goals in his previous four United games.

And on Monday Lukaku was absent from Belgium’s first practice ahead of their two Euro 2020 qualifiers this week.

Belgium officials confirmed they are now waiting on the results after the 25-year-old “had an MRI scan of his foot”.

United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will also be anxious to hear the verdict after he started with fit-again Anthony Martial and late-consolation scorer Marcus Rashford at Molineux.

And although Solskjaer’s squad is recovering from a string of midfield injuries, the Norwegian needs Lukaku back to provide genuine options up front.

Lukaku’s double set up United’s staggering 3-1 win at PSG a fortnight ago for an away-goals triumph in the Champions League last 16.

And his physical presence would surely be influential if United are to sustain both their Euro bid and a challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Solskjaer’s men sit fifth, two points and a place below Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Lukaku hopes to be fit to train for Belgium well before their qualifiers at home to Russia on Thursday and in Cyprus on Sunday.
