Luis Suarez shows Barcelona what they're missing after Lionel Messi comments

Luis Suarez has sent a gentle reminder to Barcelona of what they’re missing out on.

The Uruguay international ended his six-year love affair with the Catalans earlier this week, joining their La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

To the surprise of many, Suarez – who Atletico snapped up for a meagre £5.5million – was deemed to be surplus to requirements by new Barca boss Ronald Koeman.

And it didn’t take long for the former Liverpool striker to show the Dutchman exactly what he’s missing out on.

Suarez reminded Koeman of his class by scoring a brace in Atletico’s rout of Granada, whom they beat 6-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Suarez’s departure from Catalunya drew the ire of Barca skipper Lionel Messi, who tore into the brass in an explosive Instagram post.

He wrote: “I had already begun to imagine it but today I went into the dressing room and it truly dawned on me

“It’s going to be so difficult to not continue to share every day with you both on and off the pitches and away from them.

“We’re going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, drank many mates, had many lunches and many dinners.

“So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together. It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch.

“You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club.

“Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level. You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore.

“I wish you all the best in your new journey. I love you loads. See you soon, friend.”

Suarez and his Atletico team-mates will be back in action on Wednesday evening, travelling to north-eastern Spain to take on Huesca. Barcelona, meanwhile, will welcome Villarreal to the Nou Camp this evening.
