Lucy Verasamy: 'Big deal' ITV weather star reveals how Michael Palin ‘made her year’

Lucy Verasamy, 39, has been working on ITV as a weather forecaster for almost 10 years.

But the star admitted she doesn’t get starstruck by anyone anymore, until she saw Sir Michael Palin, 76.

Speaking to The Sports Edit about people she has met over the years, she spilled: “A few people walk through the ITV doors – and I usually do a second take if that person was a big deal when I was younger.

“I met Michael Palin a few months ago – that made my year!”

She continued: “A friend invited me to a talk about his travels. He was funny and fascinating.”

Back in April, Lucy couldn’t contain her excitement at being in the presence of Sir Michael at Mr Fogg’s Residence in London.

The ITV weather star uploaded a series of shots to her Instagram of the television presenter following her evening out.

Lucy was won over by the travel documentary maker and alongside a snap of the Monty Python star, Lucy said: “Monday evening with Michael Palin. Year made.”

Sharing the same photo to her account, the Good Morning Britain weather favourite said the evening was “insightful and entertaining”.

“Monday night with Michael Palin,” she captioned the post.

“Wonderful witty anecdotes & stories of his travels – mostly off camera. Insightful & entertaining.”

She added: “Felt like I had a golden ticket! Year made @mrfoggsgb.”

In another upload, Lucy posted a picture of Michael Palin Around The World in 80 Days DVD.

She wrote: “This may have been a Christmas gift…”

Lucy continued: “Insightful, entertaining: the things the camera didn’t see…

“Thanks for hosting @mrfoggsgb.”

Also in the interview, Lucy revealed the secret to her toned physique.

“I walk everywhere and I don’t have a car.” she divulged.

“I love hiking too and went to the Swiss Alps on a hiking trip earlier this summer.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
