LUCY Mecklenburgh promised not to get engaged before her sister’s wedding – and then Ryan Thomas popped the question.
The former Towie star ruled out marriage for the foreseeable future because she didn’t want to steal her sister’s thunder.

In an interview with Fabulous out today, Lucy said: “Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to get married one day, but my sister is getting married in Cape Town in November so it’s all about her right now.
“I’m not stealing her thunder, no way! It will happen one day, I hope, but I’m trying not to start a countdown that I want to do it by a certain age.”
The 27-year-old was proposed to during a romantic trip to Italy last week.
She shared a picture from the moment he popped the question in the picturesque Italian resort of Positano.

She wrote: “I said YES” along with a ring emoji.
In the picture, the couple can be seen smiling on a veranda with a nighttime view of the Amalfi Coast behind them.
Holding Ryan’s face, Lucy showed off her glittering engagement ring.
She then took to her Instagram Stories to share a closer up shot of her new bling.

In January, Lucy was spotted liking a series of wedding photos on Instagram in an apparent tease that she is ready to walk down the aisle.
The couple met on Bear Grylls’ show Celebrity Island in 2017, going public with their romance a few months later.
Ryan previously dated his former Coronation Street co-star Tina O’Brien, who he shares 10-year-old daughter Scarlett with.

His former Coronation Street pals were quick to congratulate the couple on their happy news, with Catherine Tyldesley writing: “Oh my god!!!!!!!! yesssss” alongside a series of love heart emojis.
Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie Webster, wrote: “Congratulations darling” while Richard Fleeshman, who is one of Ryan’s best mates, posted a series of love heart emojis.
