Lucy Mecklenburgh opened up about the tough side of motherhood, explaining she has ‘really struggled’ for three months.

The Towie star and fiancé Ryan Thomas welcomed their first child together earlier this year, and introduced us all to son Roman in March.

But the new mum revealed that she had been finding it tough dealing with the sleepless nights and breastfeeding her adorable little boy.

Taking to Instagram, the 28-year-old shared a photo of herself cuddling the newborn in the early hours of the morning.

‘Us at 4am* I adore my son, every time I look at him I can’t believe I made this perfect baby boy and when he smiles & laughs my heart bursts with love,’ she began.

‘BUT I’ve really struggled now for 3 months maybe heightened by lockdown. Breast feeding I love & hate, it is wonderful for bonding but bloody relentless!

‘Sleepless nights aren’t getting any easier there is a reason sleep deprivation is a form of torture…’

Lucy then begged for her words to not be misconstrued for ‘clickbait headlines’, explaining this was one of the reasons she had been quiet on social media.

‘I don’t want to post what looks like “perfect parenting” but also don’t want to deal with dramatic headlines & online trolls for telling the truth,’ she continued.

‘Here’s the truth.. Nights are long & lonely, there are days I don’t want to do this anymore & just want a break but I have no choice as I breast feed him every 3 hours so I feel trapped & like my only purpose is a milk machine.

‘I’m constantly told to nap when he naps but when then do I eat, shower, pump, reply to texts & emails, do the washing, just have a HOT cup of tea in the garden & feel like a normal human being for 10mins!!’

’I’m so grateful to have a happy, healthy baby boy and wouldn’t change it for the world but motherhood is tough the tiredness, tears & mum guilt I don’t think I was fully prepared for and I wish more people showed the happy times and the tough times.

‘To all fellow mummas you are beyond amazing superhuman machines,’ she added. ‘This is for sure the hardest but most rewarding job that exists.’

Fans of the new mum flooded her comments with supportive messages, thanking her for being so honest at such a tough time.

‘Thank you for sharing and being honest. My baby boy is 6 weeks old and I know exactly how you’re feeling x,’ an Instagram user penned.

‘You’re doing amazing,’ a follower simply replied.

‘Keep ur head up, it’s really tough and mentally exhausting but l promise u it gets better with time,’ one said. ‘U are doing amazing, that’s a healthy, loved lil boy..all the best Xx (sic).’

‘This is spot on! So incredibly hard at times! You’ve got this,’ another added.

Lucy and Ryan are currently isolating with Roman at their swanky Essex home.

During an appearance on Lorraine, the reality star opened up about how she was coping after welcoming the tot during a pandemic.

‘You know what it has been really tough,’ she told the host. ‘The first few weeks for me was really difficult.

‘When I was pregnant they said, “take all the help, have everyone round,” but we haven’t had that support.

‘What we have had is every single moment with him and it has been amazing. He’s 10 weeks, but he’s a big boy.’
