Lucifer season 4 spoilers: Lucifer set for MAJOR change after Chloe Decker twist?

There is the theory that Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) lost some of his devilishness when he saved Chloe Decker’s (Lauren German) life.

Lucifer takes bullets for Chloe in one scene, saving her life and showing a softer side to Lucifer.

One Reddit fan attempted to explain the theory: “He shielded Chloe from the bullet that would have killed her. In some sense he took her mortality upon himself.

“This is the central mystery of the series in my opinion. While not expressly prohibited I think that this is just as much a breach of the established order as killing a human, and it has consequences.

“Angels and humans are separate orders of being; angels intervene only at God’s command for the purpose of furthering his plan for humanity, not for the sake of the lives or welfare of particular humans.”

So the theory is by saving Chloe he became more mortal and showed the vulnerability associated with humans.

Another fan agreed with the theory: “It makes sense. We all punish ourselves in our own way. He felt like a monster and hated by his siblings so he became one.

When Chloe saw the angelic side of himself and he allowed himself to believe it, his wings came back and his devil face went away. All it took was one person to not see him as evil. I like that!”

Maybe he will eventually become human and embrace the vulnerabilities of being a human.

Other fans are not convinced however: “It’s a nice thought, but Lucifer saves people all the time. Also, he didn’t take the bullets that were aimed at Chloe.

“Jimmy shot Chloe and then he tried to kill Lucifer by shooting him as well.”

However, maybe the mortality affected Lucifer because of the romantic interest between the pair.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, lead actor Tom teased details of a romance for Lucifer and Chloe despite the shocking season three finale.

Speaking about the potential storyline, he said: “Chloe and Lucifer’s relationship, I think it’s the heartbeat of the show.”

The pair’s romance is not the only season four romance teased with Maze star Lesley-Ann Brandt revealing her character is to find love finally

Lesley-Ann told TVLine: “Maze does fall in love this season. Season three explored what relationships and friendships feel like and how you can be let down and make up, while season four is now about her finding her someone.”

This is coming from a character who once claimed: “Demons don’t get sad, they get mad.”

Fans can look forward to seeing a different side to one of their favourite characters.

They will also have to wait and see whether romance between Lucifer and Chloe blossoms and he shows more vulnerability as he falls in love with her.

The new season air date has yet to be revealed.

Lucifer season four will stream on Netflix in 2019.
